FBI Director Christopher Wray has announced his plans to resign before former President Donald Trump returns to the White House.
Wray said he would “serve until the end of the current Administration in January and then step down,” Fox News reported.
“In my view, this is the best way to avoid dragging the Bureau deeper into the fray while reinforcing the values and principles that are so important to how we do our work,” Wray said. Apparently, the director hopes the FBI will continue its antics as Trump and director nominee Kash Patel aim to clean house.
“Our adherence to our core values, our dedication to independence and objectivity, and our defense of the rule of law — those fundamental aspects of who we are must never change,” Wray said.
Wray’s choice of words is ironic considering the agency’s election interference and targeted harassment of conservatives. The director led the agency as it targeted Democrats’ political opponents. Under his watch, the FBI worked with Big Tech to suppress the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story and prosecuted political opponents and journalists for allegedly engaging in the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot.
Also under Wray’s watch, the FBI orchestrated the kidnapping plot that targeted Democrat Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, investigated concerned parents as terrorists, and interfered in American elections with surveillance and censorship. Wray also falsely claimed to Congress that the FBI does not target peaceful pro-life activists.
Just days ago, Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley called on Wray to “move on to the next chapter” of his life “for the good of the country.”
Trump praised Wray’s plans to resign, saying that, under the director’s leadership, the FBI “illegally raided my home, without cause, worked diligently on illegally impeaching and indicting me, and has done everything else to interfere with the success and future of America.”
“The resignation of Christopher Wray is a great day for America as it will end the Weaponization of what has become known as the United States Department of Injustice,” Trump wrote. “Kash Patel is the most qualified Nominee to lead the FBI in the Agency’s History, and is committed to helping ensure that Law, Order, and Justice will be brought back to our Country again.”
