Watch: Senate Republicans GRILL AG Garland for Weaponizing DOJ Against Political Opponents While Ignoring Actual Terrorism, Crimes

Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee grilled Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday over his weaponization of the Department of Justice against political opponents of everything from abortion to woke curriculum at school board meetings.

Citing a federal statute that criminalizes protesting outside judges’ homes, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas.) shredded Garland over the DOJ’s dereliction of duty pertaining to violent threats by radical left terrorists against Supreme Court Justices amid the imminent overturning of Roe v Wade.

“Has the Department of Justice brought a even single case under this statute?” Cruz asked. “It’s a yes/no question, it’s not a ‘give us a speech on the other things you did.’”

Rather than answer the question, Garland launched into a tangent: “The job of the United States Marshalls is to defend the lives of the–“

“So the answer is no,” Cruz interrupted. “Why are you unwilling to say no? The answer is no. You know it’s no. I know it’s no. Everyone in this room knows it’s no.”

“You spent 20 years as a judge and you’re perfectly content with [SCOTUS] justices being afraid for their children’s lives. You did nothing to prosecute it,” he added.

Later on, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) lambasted Garland over the DOJ’s decision to prosecute non-violent pro-life advocates while also ignoring left-wing terrorism against pro-life centers.

Garland told Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) the reasoning behind this was because the peaceful pro-lifers were protesting during the day, while the left-wing domestic terrorists attacked the pro-life centers at night.

“You are right that there are many more prosecutions with respect to the blocking of abortion centers,” Garland told Lee. “But that is generally because those actions are taken with photography at the time, during the daylight. Seeing the person who did it is quite easy.”

“Those who are attacking pregnancy resource centers, which is a horrid thing to do, are doing this at night in the dark,” Garland continued. “We have put full resources on this.”

Meanwhile, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) called out Garland over his soft-on-crime policies, highlighting how several Democrat-run cities like New Orleans and Baltimore are seeing a much higher murder rate than third world nations like Honduras and Guatemala while Garland has been Attorney General.
