Videos: Trump pulls risky move at first outdoor rally since assassination attempt

Former President Donald Trump paused his speech, left his bulletproof glass protection barrier, and walked over to check on a supporter who passed out on Wednesday during his first outdoor rally since the July 13 assassination attempt at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

According to Fox News, the former president’s outdoor rally on Wednesday at the North Carolina Aviation Museum in Asheboro, North Carolina, was the first outdoor rally since the assassination attempt against Trump and featured a bulletproof glass protection barrier around Trump’s podium.

Fox News reported that Wednesday’s event was described by the Trump campaign as a “messaging event” as part of the campaign’s counter-programming during the Democratic National Convention and that 2,500 people were expected to attend the outdoor rally. In addition to the bulletproof glass, Fox News reported that moving trucks and portable storage units were positioned behind the media riser for additional protection.

During Wednesday’s rally, the former president invited multiple law enforcement officials to temporarily join him on stage. Later in his speech, Trump left the stage and the bulletproof glass protection barrier to check on a woman who appeared to be experiencing a medical emergency. Secret Service agents surrounded the former president as he left the stage and carefully monitored his interaction with the crowd.

In a video shared on X, formerly Twitter, multiple Trump supporters can be heard shouting for a medic as a woman experienced a medical emergency. As soon as Trump was aware of the situation, the former president called for a doctor before saying, “It is very hot here, I noticed. It’s very hot, and a lot of the people waited for days to get here, so I understand it.” Trump repeatedly told the doctor, “Take your time,” as he continued to delay his speech.

After the medical incident, Trump left the bulletproof glass, made his way toward the woman, and was recorded hugging the woman who had experienced a medical emergency as the crowd shouted, “We love Trump!”

Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending Politics, also shared a video of Trump leaving the bulletproof glass to check on the supporter. He tweeted, “Today was Trump’s first outdoor rally since the assas*ination attempt at his PA rally on July 13.”

Fox News reported that Wednesday’s rally took place on the same day that a bipartisan congressional task force was meeting with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) regarding an investigation into would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks’ assassination attempt against Trump.
