Nobody Under 25 To Be Charged With Felony Murder If Maryland Democrats Have Their Way

Democrats in the Maryland legislature are putting forth a bill that would shield killers under the age of 25 from being charged with felony murder.

Fox45News reveals more details on the controversial proposal to be named, House Bill 1180:

When someone is killed while committing a felony crime, such as robbery, it is considered felony murder in Maryland.

For instance, under present law, a getaway motorist who strikes and kills a pedestrian while fleeing the scene of a crime is guilty of felony murder.

With her Youth Accountability and Safety Act, House Bill 1180, Democratic delegate Charlotte Cruchfield hopes to change that.

Delegate Crutchfield wants that to be applicable to everyone who is younger than 25.

HB 1180 states:

The felony murder laws of the State, which define a murder as being in the first degree if it was committed during the commission or attempted commission of certain offenses, are prohibited from being applied to a person who was younger than 25 at the time of the offense by this measure.

The bill, according to Republicans, is an example of larger Democrat initiatives to reform the criminal justice system and essentially normalize lawlessness.

“Bill supporters assert that the frontal lobes of the human brain do not fully develop until age 25. Susan McComas, a Republican delegate, stated, “But yet, we’re doing other things in the general assembly, allowing youngsters vote earlier and earlier, letting them acquire hormone-inducing medications to change their sex.

According to McComas, the bill could cause crime to spiral out of control.

“If this bill passes, you’re going to have kingpins, you’re going to have gangs use juveniles to do their dirty work.,” said McComas.
