Twitter CEO Elon Musk weighed in on revelations that Fauci surreptitiously tried to discredit the COVID lab leak theory, declaring that he “betrayed the public trust” as White House Coronavirus Task Force head during the pandemic.
Musk responded to a tweet on Monday by Stanford professor of medicine Jay Bhattacharya linking to an op-ed breaking down how Fauci had “fooled America” into accepting lockdowns and COVID mitigation measures.
“Now that it is clear to everyone with eyes to see that Fauci organized a cover up to squash the lab leak hypothesis, here’s a reminder that he tried to fool the public on the science of lockdown and covid mitigation too,” Bhattacharya wrote.
Exactly. Fauci egregiously betrayed the public trust.

Musk responded: “Exactly. Fauci egregiously betratyed the public trust.”
Renewed scrutiny of Fauci comes as the former NIAID chief commissioned and approved of a paper aimed at discrediting the hypothesis that COVID-19 leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China.
The revelations prompted Republican lawmakers to demand answers and accountability given Fauci’s known ties to EcoHealth Alliance and its funding of gain of function research on coronaviruses conducted at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
This also comes after the Department of Energy concluded in a leaked memo that COVID-19 likely originated from the biolab in Wuhan.
FBI Director Christopher Wray echoed that conclusion last week.
Musk hinted in January that more “Twitter Files” would be released implicating Fauci, but that release has not occurred.

Fauci pleaded ignorance to Musk’s reference, saying he’s “puzzled” why he’d be implicated in anything related to Twitter.
Fox News host Neil Cavuto summarized Musk’s reasoning: “What he’s saying is to prosecute Fauci,” Cavuto told the doctor, “that you were a little too cozy, working in cahoots with Twitter, the government, to provide a general response to all of this. But [Musk has] never released details of that. I don’t know if it’s forthcoming. But it is very similar to the kind of things Rand Paul has said about you in the United States Senate, some of these House Republican members have said you made a bad situation worse.”
