A Democrat’s Ultimate Free Pass To Avoid Accountability

Word got around that if you’re a Democrat, especially a black or brown one, the surefire way to evade any accountability is to use some variation of the phrase, “especially black and brown people …” It works better than bleach.

During a press conference last week, a reporter asked Democrat Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson about the $30,000 in campaign funds he spent in just one year on haircuts and makeup. “I think it’s always appropriate to make sure we’re investing in small businesses,” said the former teacher union boss, “especially minority-owned, black-owned, women-owned businesses.”

For good measure, he invoked the sacred incantation again. “Our campaign spends money on food,” he said. “We support black- and brown-owned businesses, women-owned businesses.” And a third: “Go get your hair and makeup done — by black people, in particular.”

See? By not just noting his support for small business, but especially ones owned by black and brown people, Johnson was able to clear himself of any suspected misconduct.

Back in January, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., promoted a White House proposal to cap bank overdraft fees, writing on Twitter, “For too long, banks have used overdraft fees to line their pockets and punish people simply for being poor, especially Black & brown folks.”

Shut up! They are poor and they are especially black and poor, and they are especially brown and poor, and that is that.

Back in March, Democrat Rep. Shontel Brown, D-Ohio, tried very hard to read a speech on the House floor promoting abortion access. She posted the video on social media with the caption, “Women are being punished for accessing reproductive care, particularly Black women.”

Normal person: But everyone has access to reproductive care and it’s not punishable, so did you mean to s—

Watch your mouth! She said what she said. Women are being punished, particularly black women!

The phrase and variations thereof operates as a form of insurance for Democrats who either refuse to be held responsible for their transgressions or are incapable of defending their political priorities.

You’re mad about Democrats misappropriating money or pushing stupid policy? Too bad. They’re doing it for everyone’s own good, especially for the black and brown people.

In March 2021, Vice President Kamala Harris hyped up more Covid welfare spending — which in turn got us record levels of inflation — with a note on Twitter. “Yesterday, [President Biden] signed the PPP Extension Act,” she wrote, “ensuring small businesses, including Black and brown-owned businesses, and the smallest businesses, have time to seek the relief they need.”

You didn’t think it was such a good idea? You must have something against small businesses, including black- and brown-owned small businesses. What’s wrong with you?

Stacey Abrams, the body positive Democrat not-governor of Georgia, declared on Twitter before not winning her second gubernatorial run, “I will do everything I can to make Georgia a safer state, particularly for Black and Brown communities.”

She cares! Not even just equally for everyone, but particularly for black and brown people! Who’s gonna say no to that? (Weirdly enough, Abrams never ended up serving as governor.)

When noted white man Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., wanted to push some reparations-like housing welfare bill, he said, “The lack of affordable housing is a complete crisis — and the burden is falling especially heavily on Black and Brown families.”

Joe Biden, another white Democrat renowned for patronizing minorities, has also been known to deploy the “especially black and brown” charm. After choosing Kamala Harris as his running mate in 2020, he said, “This morning, little girls woke up across this nation — especially Black and Brown girls who so often may feel overlooked and undervalued in our society — potentially seeing themselves in a new way: As the stuff of Presidents and Vice Presidents.”

Normal person: Well, is she really qualifi—

Don’t start. Deference is being paid, especially to black and brown people. Leave.

It’s the modern Democrat’s form of an American Express card. They don’t leave home without it. You’ve got questions? Democrats have people, especially black and brown ones.
