Oscar “El Blue” Ramirez reports on the caravan situation from a highway in Mexico as a huge group of illegal immigrants numbering 12,000 people begins its journey to the Rio Grande in order to cross into the United States. These illegal immigrants expect the American taxpayers to provide them with free medical care, free education, and good jobs in the United States. According to Ramirez, close to seventy percent of the organization’s members are females and children, ranging in age from infants to persons in their seventies. They want to travel the full length of Mexico on foot while sticking close to one another for protection. The majority of people have only one pair of shoes, while some people only have flip-flops made of plastic. They will take a path that is known as the seaside route, and it is possible that it will be difficult for them to travel along this path because Hurricane Agatha left behind mudslides, in addition to the fact that the sun will be extremely oppressive.
The majority of people traveling in the caravan are from Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua; these are the three nations whose authoritarian leaders Joe Biden has notably chosen not to invite to the summit. But there are also people from the islands of Haiti, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala, as well as nationals of India, Bangladesh, and a number of nations in Africa.
