A new report claims that 70 Christians were recently beheaded by Islamic terrorists and found in a church in a “massacre” in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Open Doors, a non-denominational organization that supports persecuted Christians, cited field sources who reported that terrorists from the Allied Democratic Forces, which is linked to the Islamic State, “approached homes in Mayba in the territory of Lubero, saying: ‘Get out, get out and don’t make any noise.’”
According to Open Doors, 20 Christian men and women were initially captured by the Allied Democratic Forces; however, 50 other Christians were later captured after the terrorists surrounded the village for a second time.
“All 70 of those kidnapped were taken to a Protestant church in Kasanga where they were tragically killed,” Open Doors stated. The organization added that the beheaded bodies of the Christians were later found in the church.
Open Doors reported that one of the elders of the CECA20 church in the DRC said, “We don’t know what to do or how to pray; we’ve had enough of massacres. May God’s will alone be done.”
John Samuel, a legal expert for Open Doors, emphasized the organization’s opposition toward the “heinous act of violence” against Christians in the DRC and urged international organizations and governments to take steps to prioritize “civilian protection” in the country due to the threat of the Allied Democratic Forces.

“The violence takes place in a context of impunity, where almost no one is held accountable,” Samuel said. “This massacre is a clear indicator of widespread human rights violations against civilians and vulnerable communities, often targeting Christians, perpetrated by ADF – a [so-called Islamic State] affiliate.”
The Daily Wire reported that as of Thursday afternoon, none of the legacy media outlets had covered the massacre of Christians in the DRC.
On Wednesday, Tristan Azbej, Hungarian State Secretary for the Aid of Persecuted Christians, released a statement on X, formerly Twitter, saying, “Horrified to learn about the 70 Christian martyrs beheaded by terrorists in a church in Kasanga, DRC. Hungary stands in solidarity with the persecuted Christians BUT we need more … the world needs to recognize and act against Christian persecution.”
Jeff King, president of International Christian Concern, an organization devoted to defending persecuted Christians, told The Christian Post that the recent incident in the DRC was not “isolated.”
“This recent massacre, where 70 Christians lost their lives, is not an isolated incident but part of a grim tapestry of violence that has claimed over 6 million lives in the DRC over two decades of on-and-off war,” King said. “The vast majority of the DRC’s residents are Christian, so this is a religious genocide carried out by radical Islamic terrorists (the ADF).”
